Laura Thomson is a professional violinist based in Brisbane. She was the 1999 New Zealand Young Performer of the Year and after completing a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium, she embarked on further study at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, Guildhall School of Music in London and the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg. She has worked as a violinist with many of Australia’s leading Symphony Orchestra’s including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
In 2014, Laura embarked on a tour of China and Inner Mongolia as Assistant Concertmaster with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and until mid 2016 she was the Concertmaster of the Ady Ensemble which has several concerts a year at St. Andrew's Uniting Church, Brisbane and QCGU. In 2016, Laura was the assistant concertmaster for the Ardor Ensemble's debut performance at the Griffith University Conservatorium of Music and she participated in the 2016 Bangalow Music Festival alongside members of the Southern Cross Soloists and internationally renowned concert artists.
Laura's teaching profession has included work at Ipswich Girls' Grammar School, Ipswich Grammar School, St Rita's College, A.B. Paterson College and Marcellin College.
David Ryan is a multi-faceted musician & artist at heart, an accomplished Audio Engineer studying at SAE, finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts at QUT. He embarked on further education in New York at Hunter College & Columbia University.
David is in high demand as a saxophone, flute, clarinet, piano and theory teacher because of his broad knowledge of style, technique and composition from Classical music through to music production.
With over a decade of teaching experience from beginner to diploma level, David is delighted to share his knowledge and experience at Tempo Music Academy.
